MCS Gathers Industry Leaders to Discuss Wireless Issues, Business Strategies, and Policy Initiatives

Keynote Speakers Address Spectrum, 5G, and Connectivity


Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – CCA’s Mobile Carriers Show (MCS) opened today with industry leaders discussing wireless issues, business strategies, and policy initiatives to advance the competitive carrier ecosystem. MCS takes place this week, May 2-4, in Pittsburgh at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center with an exhibit floor, educational sessions, and a live streamed keynote program.


In his first keynote address, CCA President and CEO Tim Donovan provided an update on key competitive carrier issues including access to spectrum, network security, rip & replace, and infrastructure policies.


“I am delighted to welcome the wireless industry to Pittsburgh this week to hear from our keynoters discussing the latest innovations in connectivity and network security, access to spectrum, and closing the digital divide,” said Donovan. “Thank you to our lineup of speakers and exhibitors showcasing new products and services to help competitive carriers thrive and grow.”


FierceWireless returned to moderate the opening keynote panel this morning, sponsored by T-Mobile. The panel, which included executives from Carolina West Wireless, Samsung, T-Mobile, and UScellular, addressed how limited spectrum is raising issues and impacting the future of wireless carriers.


Nokia’s Jason Elliott, Head of Cross-Portfolio Solutions, Partners, Ecosystem Marketing and Fayyaz Patwa, VP, Sales Engineering, examined the need to harness and amplify the power within networks to deliver on fiber and wireless connectivity.


Closing out today’s keynote program was Bob Chiodo, SVP, Carrier at Syniverse, who discussed how collaboration and building strong industry partnerships are the keys to successful business growth.


Tomorrow, MCS will host two keynotes, which will be live streamed:

  • 9:15-9:30 am - How Network Modernization Investment Revitalized GCI's Mobile Business, with Ericsson and GCI presenting.

  • 9:30-10:00 am - Strengthening Business Relationships: Unique Offerings for CCA Members, led by Kim Caronchi, SVP, Industry Development & Membership, CCA, with executives from Award Solutions, IDI Billing Solutions, UNITEL, and ClearSky Technologies speaking.
