CCA’s Annual Convention Examines AI, 5G Connectivity, and Public Policy Initiatives


Atlanta, Georgia – CCA’s Annual Convention kicked off today with industry leaders examining advances in AI, 5G connectivity, broadband access, and public policy initiatives affecting competitive carriers including spectrum access, “Rip and Replace,” and Universal Service Fund support. CCA’s Annual Convention takes place October 17-19 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Georgia. All keynote sessions will be live streamed.

Tim Donovan, President and CEO of CCA, opened the keynote program this morning. Addressing advancements in artificial intelligence, Donovan remarked, “We find ourselves at an inflection point, with revolutions in technology including AI and space… posing both great challenges and great opportunities for all of us.”

This morning’s keynote panel, “A Conversation with Industry Titans,” saw former FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, Principal, MLC Strategies, LLC; and Hu Meena, CEO,

C Spire discussing successful strategies carriers need to deploy to remain competitive in the 5G market, current spectrum auction authority and the 5G fund, and offered advice for the next generation of wireless leaders.

Last night, the industry honored Steven K. Berry, former president and CEO of CCA, at a reception. “CCA and its members extend our thanks and gratitude to Steve Berry for his many years of leadership that have helped carriers grow their business, deliver innovative products and services, and prepare for the future,” said Donovan.

“I’d also like to thank our speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors for sharing their insights and best practices as we come together to discuss harnessing the power of AI, the need for broadband resources, and advances in cybersecurity,” concluded Donovan.

CCA’s Annual Convention hosts three days of networking and exhibits, along with a keynote and educational program that address the latest wireless innovations and business strategies that drive the mobile ecosystem. The exhibit floor will showcase technology from major brands including Ericsson, Interop Technologies, Nokia, Syniverse, Parallel Wireless, TNS, and others.
