CCA’s Annual Convention Features Carrier CEO Keynote Panel, Educational Sessions, and More

Next month, the mobile industry will gather at CCA’s Annual Convention in Phoenix to share their insights and experiences on the latest business, technology, and policy issues and trends effecting the mobile ecosystem. A keynote panel featuring C-level executives from Carolina West Wireless, Cellular One, Cellcom, GCI, and Union Wireless will address the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, and Dow Draper of T-Mobile will deliver keynote remarks. CCA’s Annual Convention will take place September 20-22 at the Phoenix Convention Center.


On Monday, September 20, CCA will host a Supply Chain Workshop featuring FCC staff presentations, discussing details of the Reimbursement Program, and a network equipment vendor roundtable.


On Tuesday, September 21, the Keynote Panel: A Discussion with Carrier CEOs, will be moderated by Steven K. Berry, president & CEO of CCA and feature Mark Nazé, CEO, Nsight – Cellcom; Slayton Stewart, CEO, Carolina West Wireless; Jonathan Foxman, president & CEO, Cellular One; Maureen Moore, chief customer experience officer, GCI; and Eric Woody, chief technical & operations officer, Union Wireless. Executives will examine best practices to meet increased consumer demands, policy issues important to company growth, and how carriers can address current challenges to better serve their customers. Later that afternoon, Dow Draper, EVP of emerging products at T-Mobile, will deliver keynote remarks focused on T-Mobile’s plans for fixed wireless products.

Educational sessions will be offered across four tracks: Business Development, Technical, Marketing/Customer Experience, and Policy. Executives from Award Solutions, BEC Technologies, Carolina West Wireless, Ericsson North America, Nokia, Parallel Wireless, Ookla, Samsung, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, among others, will speak. Tuesday, September 21

2:00 pm - Need to Know Now: Current and Future Funding Opportunities for

Network Deployment

Speakers will breakdown COVID-19 relief funding opportunities for carriers and provide updates on Universal Service programming including RDOF and the 5G Fund, the status of the FCC’s mapping process as mandated by the Broadband Data Act, and a discussion of Congress’ once in-a-generation efforts to direct billions of dollars towards broadband deployment.


3:00 pm – Driving 5G with Rural Operators

MNOs are planning network upgrades to 5G and to do so they must monetize their networks. Panelists will review use cases driving 5G demands including robotics and industrial manufacturing, precision/automated agriculture, banking, education, smart cities and utilities, and social media platforms.


Wednesday, September 22

2:00 pm - Industry Trends in Executive Leadership

Panelists will explore how companies are effectively implementing diversity and social justice programs, engaging with employees and customers as we emerge from the pandemic and creating new paths to reputation and brand leadership.


2:00 pm – Cyber Security and Small Carriers

Experts will discuss mitigation actions policymakers are considering for ransomware attacks, steps to take to secure networks and company operations, and best practices for companies who fall victim to these attacks.
